NEXTY Electronics Signs Licensing Agreement to Provide MaRI’s Algorithm to Korea’s Smart Radar System
- Reducing Workload in Home Healthcare and Other Settings Through High-Precision Non-Contact Vital Sensing -

NEXTY Electronics Corporation (Minato-ku, Tokyo; President: Tsuyoshi Yamada; hereafter referred to as NEXTY Electronics) signed a licensing agreement on October 22 to implement the non-contact vital sensing algorithm from MaRI Co., Ltd. (Kyoto City; CEO and CTO: Hirofumi Taki; hereafter referred to as MaRI) into products manufactured by Smart Radar System Inc. (Korea; President: Yonghwan Kim; hereafter referred to as SRS).

■ Background and Objectives
Traditional contact-type sensors used in home healthcare and elderly monitoring require users to wear the devices. This creates burdens for users, their families, and care providers who must handle installation and management.
MaRI’s algorithm for developing non-contact monitors of vital signs uses 60 GHz millimeter-wave radar optimized for vital sensing (technology that measures biological information such as heartbeat and respiration), enabling highly accurate detection and measurement of breathing and heart rate without physical contact. This technology is expected to reduce burdens across various monitoring environments, including home healthcare.
Meanwhile, SRS has been manufacturing high-performance, affordable radar modules leveraging advanced antenna design and signal processing technology, but faced challenges in developing algorithms that could fully utilize their modules’ capabilities. NEXTY Electronics recognized that combining the strengths of MaRI and SRS could contribute to solving challenges in monitoring environments, leading to this agreement.

■ Benefits of Licensing Agreement
Installing MaRI’s algorithm on SRS radar modules through this agreement will enable non-contact, high-precision vital sensing and provide solutions that reduce burdens in monitoring environments. Leveraging NEXTY Electronics’ global network, we will provide customized solutions tailored to customer needs and support problem-solving in monitoring environments worldwide.
While this agreement will begin with non-medical applications, we envision future applications in sleep improvement tools and care devices.
