Circuit diagram explanation

Circuit diagram explanation
The fuel pump ECU is typically located outside the fuel tank, while the pump itself is located inside the fuel tank. This results in longer wiring between the ECU and the motor, requiring high-speed SWITCHES to minimize power consumption. Furthermore, cooling the ECU presents its own unique design challenges. The fuel pump operates continuously, and the ECU is often located under the rear seat where cooling capacity is limited.

Infineon's integrated half-bridge IC, Novalith IC™, helps optimize power diffusion and cooling in fuel pump applications. Worst-case SWITCHES times are specified in the datasheet, minimizing SWITCHES spread, especially in DISCRETE MOS FETS. The integrated Novalith IC™ requires only a single cooling area to accommodate both high-side and low-side current SWITCHES. Furthermore, Novalith IC™ comes with overheating shutdown and latching behavior to thermally protect MOS FETS. Thanks to thermal feedback, Novalith IC™ improves SWITCHES speed and reduces SWITCHES losses.
