Automotive door mirrors are not merely mechanically adjustable mirrors housed in side-mounted housings; they are complex applications incorporating numerous functions through electronic circuitry. Commonly used design features include electronic mirror position adjustment and retraction with memory function, turn signals, blind spot indicators, and mirror heaters. The door module can incorporate a distributed electronic control unit within the mirror housing to organize and optimize the wiring harnesses for the various functions connected to the mirror, and connect to the vehicle gateway via a LIN bus.
