■ Configuration of an Energy Storage System
Energy storage systems consist of two main parts. The power conversion system (PCS) handles AC/DC and DC/AC conversion. It charges batteries by supplying energy to them and converts the energy stored in batteries into AC power for supply to the power grid. The appropriate power device solution depends on the corresponding voltage and the incoming and outgoing power.
The Battery Management System (BMS), complemented by a microcontroller for system control and communication, performs cell charging, balancing, and health monitoring. It is an essential component when integrating ESSs into large-scale systems.
■ Configuration of a PV INVERTERS
Combining solar panels with energy storage systems is an effective way to balance supply and demand. High-efficiency and highly reliable power semiconductors and INVERTERS technologies are essential for DC/AC conversion and transmission of electricity while minimizing losses. These INVERTERS are classified into various types depending on the topology they are implemented in.
