Making "Multi-Robot Coordination" Achievable easily by anybody else : Automatic Collision Free Path Planning

Smart Factories and Robotics

Background

While industrial robots are currently being introduced, particularly in the welding of vehicles on production lines, the overall introduction rate in Japan remains less than 10%. Amidst concerns over the declining labor force in Japan’s manufacturing industry, there is a need to improve the productivity of conventional production systems and introduce new production systems for mass customization to meet the ever-diversifying needs of consumers.

Our Solution

Improving productivity and meeting the demands of mass customization requires the simultaneous use of multiple robots as well as collaborative work with humans. Currently, however, it takes a significant amount of time to program, teach, and generate interlocks in order to realize efficient work without colliding with humans, and it is critical to establish safety while also greatly shortening task times.

To address this, “RapidPlan/RapidSense,” a software solution from Realtime Robotics, Inc., is able to easily and quickly set up a “collision-free” robot, thereby addressing the issues associated with introducing industrial robots to a diverse range of customers in the manufacturing industry.
RapidPlan/RapidSense is a high-speed auto-path planning software platform for vertically articulated robots that allows multiple industrial robots to work together without colliding.

Features

  • Reduces up to 90% of path generation programming time, requires no teaching, and automatically generates interlocks
  • The automatic homing function drastically reduces production line downtime
  • Software can be installed on the IPC as an add-on.

Technical training is provided before use, to support quick introduction by customers.

Our Strengths

  • Through close collaboration with Realtime Robotics, we provide highly-effective software implementation and technical support
  • During PoC and line introduction, we collaborate with partner companies to identify customers’ issues and propose solutions
