Background

Drivers’ conditions vary from moment to moment due to a variety of factors, such as decreased attentiveness or emotional state.

Dangerous driving can occur unconsciously or in moments of impulsiveness. Examples of this include “distracted driving,” a leading cause of traffic accidents, followed by “falling asleep at the wheel” and “road rage” caused by momentary emotional episodes.

 Services implemented to date have been able to send out alerts after dangerous driving occurs, such as sudden acceleration or swerving, but none of these services have been able to provide a “proactive response” to dangerous driving. 

Our Solution

Our solution comprises a system equipped with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon SoC (System-on-Chip), which incorporates AI, that continuously monitors the driver’s condition using image recognition and sends alerts as needed to ensure safe driving with a “proactive response.”

Image recognition capabilities:

・Detects drivers and, based on their posture, determines when they engage in dangerous driving behavior.

・Recognizes parts of the driver’s face and alerts the driver when an angry expression is detected based on the positioning of those parts.

・Continues to improve alert accuracy by understanding the unique characteristics of each driver through recognition and learning.

We provide support in coordination with SoM (System-on-Module) and ODM manufacturers who are highly familiar with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon, a key hardware device.
