The MAX1763x are high-efficiency, high-voltage synchronous step-down DC/DC converters with integrated MOS FETS that operate over an input voltage range of 3V to 36V. The MAX17636 can deliver 6A, the MAX17638 can deliver 8A, and the MAX17639 can deliver 10A of continuous current. In addition, the MAX17639 can support peak currents up to 12A. These devices can generate output voltages ranging from 0.6V to 90% of VIN.
The devices feature a MODE/SYNC pin that can be used to program the device for forced pulse-width modulation (PWM) or SWITCHES frequency modulation (SFM) mode operation and to synchronize the internal clock to an external clock. The devices feature an enable/input undervoltage lockout (EN/UVLO) pin that can program the input voltage required to turn the converter on and off. They also feature a soft-start (SS) pin that suppresses inrush current during startup. Additionally, the devices feature a RESET/TJ pin that can be used to monitor the output voltage or die temperature status. The die temperature monitor allows direct measurement of SILICONE die temperature, enabling robust and reliable POWER SUPPLIES designs without relying on theoretical estimates.
