Cloud License

Wibu-Systems brings CodeMeter technology to the cloud, offering software developers and intelligent device manufacturers new levels of creative freedom, ease of use and scalability.
All parts of the CodeMeter ecosystem are designed to work seamlessly with each other, allowing you to combine virtual and physical to create new features, capabilities, and services wherever your users are.

A solution for protecting and licensing software on devices with an always-on internet connection.
The software is compatible with the following environments:

  • Office or home office workstation
  • IoT or IIoT devices
  • Virtual machines in your own data center or other clouds

A cloud license can meet the following needs:

  • Linked to user account (not device)
  • I want to implement a subscription license model for my application.

Because the license itself is in the cloud, it offers several key advantages:

  • If you need to change your license for any reason, you can do so in a single operation, in a timely manner, regardless of how many users have Access.
    This includes license quantities, expiration dates, feature/component changes, etc.
  • It is also possible to deny Access to certain groups.
  • This cloud license is massively redundant and scalable, allowing millions of users to Access the license in real time.

CodeMeter license type: Code license features

Since licenses are linked to user accounts, licenses can be provided from anywhere as long as you have access to a network.

1 account can be connected to 3 locations simultaneously

One user account can be set up to three locations (can be limited to two or one location) for simultaneous connection.

Bulk license for up to 500 units

Bulk licensing for up to 500 units is possible.

Use case: Issuing licenses to an entire department at a location, etc.

License control for application software in the cloud

License control is possible for the following cloud-based application software:

Example: Setting an expiration date and network license for application software on other clouds to control the number of computers that can use the license.

CodeMeter centrally manages licenses for various environments

The process of creating and distributing licenses can also be fully standardized, as cloud-based (CmCloudContainer), hardware-based (CmDongle) and software-based (CmActLicense) licenses use the same interface.
Whichever method you use, you can create your licenses using CodeMeter.
For example, if you provide a customer with a hardware-based license (CmDongle), you may want to switch to a software-based license (CmActLicence) from now on, or to a cloud-based license (CmCloudContainer) at some point, and change the form of license provision depending on the customer's needs or circumstances. In this case, CodeMeter allows you to centrally manage licenses.
The encryption for application software is common across all environments, so no changes are required.

CodeMeter Licensing Model

Single User LicenseThe license is stored on the local PC, on a local device, or on a CmDongle connected to the local PC.
The software runs on the same computer/machine.
Feature-on-Demand LicenseIndividual licenses are used to enable specific product features and modules.
This allows you to generate additional revenue through the sale of add-ons.
Network LicenseLicenses are stored on a license server within the network.
It is used on a PC as a floating license.
License with Downgrade RightsThis license includes the right to optionally use older versions of the program.
This license allows the customer to migrate all clients to the new version at a later date,
Software publishers are not required to sell old releases.
License with upgrade rightsThis license includes the right to use new versions of the program at your option.
With this type of license, your revenue will not drop until a new version is released.
Demo/Trial LicenseUsers will only have Access to your designated software features for a limited time.
Rental/lease/subscriptionSpecify the validity period of your license. CodeMeter License Central
You can automatically extend the validity period of your license.
Perpetual LicenseThe license is issued as a perpetual license and will never expire.
Pay-per-use licenseBilling is based on the number of units used. Whether billing is time-based or feature-based
