Wibu-Systems' CodeMeter can encrypt not only executable files such as (.dll) and (.exe), but also data files such as text files (.txt) and (.dat) (hereafter referred to as data files).
Data files, like application software, can only be decrypted by licensed end users.

Data file encryption and license provision process
1. Encryption by software manufacturers
Software manufacturers encrypt application software and the data files output by that software.
2. License to End Users
End users are provided with the following licenses:
- Application software licenses
- License for text files
The same license can be used for both the application software and the text file.
By using separate Product Codes, you can set different license types for each (subscription, limited-time use, perpetual license, etc.).
Note: The Product Code is a code used to identify the licensed product.
3. End User Rights
Licensed end users can:
- Use application software
- Decrypting data files
This trend will enable end users to safely use application software and manage their data.
