The ADM6840 is a sequencer/supervisor that can sequence control and monitor up to six or eight voltages. This device applies an adjustable delay when each POWER SUPPLIES is turned on and monitors the voltage of each POWER SUPPLIES.
The ADM6840 operates within a POWER SUPPLIES range of 2.7V to 15V. It also features an internal regulator output (ABP) to supply power to its internal circuitry.
Sequencing is performed by two inputs (ON and OFF). Power-on sequencing for each channel begins on the rising edge of the ON input, and power-off sequencing begins on the falling edge of the OFF input. During power-on sequencing, when all voltages reach their final values, the DONE output is asserted high, and after the reset timeout period (tRP) has elapsed, the Power OK (POK) output is asserted, enabling microcontroller operation. If any voltage falls below the monitor threshold (VMON_TH), POK is asserted low, disabling all outputs simultaneously and shutting off all sequence POWER SUPPLIES. At the start of power-off sequencing by the PLC, the ADM6840 can sequence the outputs in reverse order.
The ADM6840 has an open-drain reset output and can be daisy-chained in unlimited ways to control any number of voltages in a system.
The ADM6840 features a bidirectional active-low FAULT input/output that asserts low in the event of any fault condition. This is a one-shot pulse output during the fault condition. Pulling FAULT low via an external signal immediately disables all outputs. The ADM6840 is available in a 2.46mm × 2.46mm, 25-bump wafer-level package (WLP) (0.5mm pitch), a 4mm × 4mm (24-pin) package, and a 5mm × 5mm (28-pin) TQFN package. The device is fully specified over an operating temperature range of -40°C to +125°C.
