Vishay's DFN DIODES package contributes to mounting inspection
Vishay, which develops a variety of power circuit components, has released the DFN3820A/DFN33A, space-saving, high-power density leadless DIODES packages.

Features
DFN (Dual Flat no lead) is a space-saving, high-power density DIODES package.
This package has a low profile of 0.88 mm and is equipped with a general rectifier DIODES, fast recovery DIODES, Schottky DIODES, and TVS DIODES.
The package also features wettable flank TERMINALS, allowing for AOI inspection. Furthermore, the DFN3820/DFN33A are designed for automotive use and comply with AEC-Q101 and the stricter Vishay Automotive Grade.
Use Cases for Vishay Leadless DIODES Packages
As shown in the diagram below, Vishay's leadless DIODES packages are expected to be used in a variety of fields, including automotive, DC/DC freewheeling DIODES, consumer electronics, industrial equipment, computers, and communications.
Wettable Frank and AOI
Normally, leadless packages do not have solder fillets that rise sufficiently, making it impossible to visually inspect the soldering. However, if TERMINALS have wettable flanks, the soldering can be visually inspected, even though the package is leadless. This allows for AOI (Analysis of Inspection) mounting inspection. What is AOI?
AOI (Automatic Optical Inspection) is a method of inspecting a mounted area using a camera, analyzing the images, and checking the position of components, the appropriateness of solder fillets, etc.
AOI enables faster and cheaper testing than conventional methods, and because it does not require physical contact with the board, it contributes to high-density mounting by reducing the contact space.In addition, there is no wear associated with contact, so long-term high reliability can be expected.
