CO2 sensor demo system

We have developed a demo system that utilizes Infineon's CO2 sensor module.
The highly accurate CO2 sensor is ultra-compact and can be installed in various locations, and can be incorporated into a variety of devices.

Demo Overview

Our CO2 sensor demo system transmits measured CO2 values to a dedicated Android app via BLE, allowing the results to be displayed in graphs. The CO2 sensor module, MCU, BLE, and POWER SUPPLIES modules required for the demo are all combined on a Leafony* bus-compliant leaf (board) to create an ultra-compact device. It also features a low-power consumption mode for battery operation.

*This is a platform proposed by the Trillion Node Study Group, in which NEXTY Electronics participates. In the Trillion Node Study Group, the board is called a Leaf. Leafony is a trademark of Leafony Systems, Inc.

Notable Features

Uses an ultra-compact, high-precision CO2 sensor module

Infineon's CO2 sensor module XENSIV TM PAS CO2 covers carbon dioxide concentrations from 0 ppm to 32,000 ppm and has a reading accuracy of ±30 ppm ±3%.
In addition, the package size is ultra-compact at 13.8mm x 14mm x 7.5mm compared to NDIR CO2 sensors.

Developed a board compliant with Leafony standards

Developed a leaf (board) that conforms to the Leafony standard and is equipped with a CO2 sensor module (board size: 25mm x 20mm).
Nexty Electronics has OTHERS developed Leaf boards for MCUs, BLE, and POWER SUPPLIES supplies, and can combine these to create an ultra-compact demo system.

Display CO2 concentration graphs on Android app

The measured CO2 concentration is sent to an Android smartphone via BLE and displayed as a graph on the Android app.
You can check the changes in CO2 concentration over time.

Use Cases

Monitoring indoor CO2 concentrations

It can be used for equipment that monitors CO2 concentrations in rooms, cars, conference rooms, etc., and prompts for ventilation timing.

Detecting people and animals in the room

Possible applications include measuring the CO2 concentration in a room and optimally controlling air conditioning depending on whether or not someone is present.

CO2 concentration management in plant factories

It is expected that this technology will be used to appropriately manage the CO2 concentration necessary for plant growth, leading to higher efficiency and quality in plant factories.
