Automotive Ethernet Testing Services

Automotive Ethernet, which supports the increasing data capacity and higher speeds required for in-vehicle communication, continues to evolve to enable autonomous driving.
However, introducing automotive Ethernet presents various challenges, including test implementation, equipment availability, and technical capabilities.
To address these challenges, NEXTY Electronics provides testing services incorporating European-level technologies.

What is Automotive Ethernet?

Automotive Ethernet is a high-speed communication technology optimized for connecting ECUs, sensors, and cameras within vehicles.
It enables real-time communication with high bandwidth and low latency, addressing the large-volume data requirements that conventional technologies such as CAN and LIN cannot easily support. With the advancement of ADAS and autonomous driving, it is gaining attention as a foundation for efficiently transmitting high-definition video and sensor data.
In addition, by using a single pair of twisted-pair cables, it contributes to reducing vehicle wiring weight and overall costs, and is increasingly adopted as a core technology in next-generation in-vehicle networks.

What is OPEN Alliance?

OPEN Alliance (One-Pair Ether-Net Alliance) is an industry organization aimed at standardizing and promoting automotive Ethernet. It consists of automotive manufacturers, semiconductor companies, and suppliers, and develops specifications for the physical layer, communication requirements, and evaluation methods. The organization is structured into technical committees (TCs), each with specific roles. In particular, TC8 defines test specifications for verifying interoperability and quality in ECU-to-ECU communication, playing a critical role in ensuring reliability.
NEXTY Electronics participates in the OPEN Alliance as an Adopter member.

NEXTY Electronics’ Automotive Ethernet Testing Services

At NEXTY Electronics, we provide OPEN Alliance TC8 testing services for ECUs.

TC8 is a technical committee that defines common test specifications for verifying communication quality and interoperability of ECUs in automotive Ethernet. In the past, each automotive manufacturer used its own test conditions and evaluation criteria, which created challenges in development efficiency and ensuring interoperability. TC8 standardizes these requirements and establishes a framework that enables consistent quality evaluation across multiple vendors. This approach helps achieve both reduced development workload and improved reliability.

TC8 testing consists of Layer 1 tests for the physical layer and High Layer tests for the protocol layer. For Layer 1 testing, the test content varies depending on the communication speed.
